Business Fredericton North took home the award for Marketing at the Downtown New Brunswick Annual General Meeting, held in Fredericton yesterday. DNB’s Strategic Planning and Marketing Awards began in 2004 and are presented annually, one award in the planning category and one in the marketing. The awards were presented by Rose-May Poirer, Minister of Local Government, who is the Minister involved with the Business Improvement Areas in the Province. New Brunswick has 29 BIA’s province wide.
Business Fredericton North’s submission was for the re-branding and launch of the new name, logo, and associate membership material. BFN officially re-branded the association in October 2005 in a launch unveiling the new look to the association. Business Fredericton North Inc., represents the central business district in Fredericton North which encompasses a 2.3-kilometer commercial strip which is the core business improvement area consisting of 180 plus businesses. The primary funding for the association comes from a special BIA Levy which is paid by the commercial property owners located in this area. In addition to the core BIA, Business Fredericton North Inc. represents the
interests of associate business members in Fredericton North outside the BIA boundaries. Associate business members are able to share in benefits which the existing BIA members enjoy such as
advocacy, networking and education.
BFN President Moe Arsenault was in attendance to accept the Award. Mr. Arseneault said, “We are very excited to have been given this recognition and award from our Provincial Association
representing all BIA’s in the Province, Downtown NB for the re-branding. Business Fredericton North has worked extremely hard to ensure our re-branding worked for both our BIA members,
associate members and the public. 2006 is our 20th year in existence and this award is a wonderful recognition for our Business Improvement Area and our members.”
